Meet Willie the Single Siamang Dad

Keepers at South Lakes Wild Animal Park pampered one very special Primates this Fathers day.

Meet Siamang Gibbon “Willie” (pictured) - South Lakes Wild Animal Park’s first single Dad. Since wife Nancy passed away of old age in 2010 Willie has, like lots of dads out there done an amazing job of raising his 2 children singlehandedly.

Pictured here with his youngest – daughter Cayaha, just 18 months old, Willie has been a stay at home dad looking after her and 4 year old handful Indah.

Willie has taken sole care of the 2 since Cayaha lost her mum at just one month old and like all single parents Willie has had to be teacher, protector, provider, as well as loving, doting dad.
“Willie will be getting some very special treats this coming Fathers day especially his favourite - fruit salad”.

In honor of Willie and the fantastic job he has done, and jobs fathers do all over the world, South Lakes Wild Animal Park threw their doors open to fathers free of charge Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th June.

Lots of fathers had a great fun day out at the park, seeing some of the rarest animals on earth and interacting and sharing special moments with the children at the zoo to simply celebrate the essential role Fathers play in their children’s lives.
